Attendance is recorded by machines by identifying a person. To identify a person, earlier RFID (proximity id card) systems were used. Although these are still available, nowadays, these have been replaced by biometric machines, which identify a person from some part of the body. Biometric machines eliminate “proxy” attendance. Finger-print reading machines are quite popular.
